Town Hall 2012

Admitted and Successful!

~SAVE THE DATE~

December 12, 2012

Horace Mann School

This highly anticipated Town Hall will give voice to what the recent New York Times article “Admitted, but Left Out,” did not – the full story; the balanced story; the countless stories of families of color who continue to successfully manage the outcomes of an independent school education.

On December 12, a gathering of students, parents, alumni, and faculty will convene at Horace Mann School to enthusiastically discuss the unique dynamics of the privileged educational environments that invariably present our families with both challenges and successes.

The goal of the of Town Hall is to share the benefits of independent school with prospective families of color while empowering current parents and students to powerfully take control of their educational outcomes by sharing stories and advice that will help ensure a positive, successful experience.

The Town Hall will:

  • Roll In the Deep – Dig beyond the surface
  • Visit Past, Present & Future – What has changed? What would we like to change?
  • Let Alumni Speak Out – The Outcome
  • Consider Privilege. It’s All Relative – Find It, Leverage It
  • Support – What Schools Do & The Parent Power Factor

Our stories are numerous and diverse and we’re going to tell them!

Join us on Wednesday, December 12, at 6:00pm for a RIISE Town Hall 2012 at Horace Mann School.

Resources In Independent School Education would like to thank Horace Mann School for hosting this pivotal event, Town Hall Committee Members, RIISE Member Schools, and the many VOICES who are committed to supporting excellence in education for our future global leaders!

Our prayers are with everyone as we confront Sandy’s aftermath. Hope you are all well.

Stay tuned for more information.
