A Note from Madame President About this Saturday’s RIISEPPC14: Parent Empowerment

Bronx New York Chapter

Bronx New York Chapter

June 3, 2014

Dear Parent-

Jack and Jill of America, Inc. is a premier African American organization that believes in empowering the children in their communities through educational, recreational, social, legislative and cultural programming. We believe that any child, if given the opportunity, has the potential to be the future leaders of tomorrow. As parents, we seek out opportunities to assist our children with achieving their full potential. The Bronx NY Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. in conjunction with Resources In Independent School Education (RIISE) would like to extend the opportunity for you and your family to take advantage of our Parent Empowerment Forum (on Education) this Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 12:30pm. The forum will be held at the Convent Baptist Church, located in Harlem, NY and is free to the public.

The Bronx NY Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. has teamed up with RIISE to educate our community about the option of choosing an independent school education for their children. As Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Children who attend independent schools are exposed to a rich curriculum that equips them to become an independent thinker. With that said, our agenda for the day will include:

  •  Keynote Speaker, Dr. Howard Stevenson, an authority on at risk youth and education
  •  A host of Independent school recruiters
  •  Informative workshops about the application process, and support for children of color who are already enrolled in Independent schools
  •  Q & A session with parents of independent school students

Please come out this Saturday, June 7, 2014, to the Convent Baptist Church! The church is located at 420 W. 145 Street, New York, NY 10031 (at the corner of Convent Avenue and W. 145th Street). We hope to see you there!

In the Name of Family,

Theresa E. Land-Latta

6th President

Bronx NY Chapter

Jack and Jill of America, Inc.

…quotes from chapter moms on why they chose and independent school…

“I chose independent school education for my child because I was looking for a different teaching styles.”

“We wanted our daughter to be in an educational environment that would nurture her natural curiosity and help her develop into a life-long learner”
