Socially Distant But Highly Engaged

These are unprecedented times that feel paranormal. So should parents of color be expected to continue to build networks, share best practices, create new ones, offer our talent and time, make an impact? Let me spell it out for ya, A.B.s.O.L.u.T.l.e.Y!

We are resourceful. And, if we can't fill up our cup, there is someone in our pod (Map Your Pod) or community who can. Let's lean on one another (RIP Bill) and not let go of the work and progress that needs doing to stay physically and emotionally healthy, support our families, friends, first-responders, and make good schools better. For our children, for our legacy.

Dear Parent of Color leaders, please consider reconvening virtually with your fellow indy school POC. We should maintain valued connections with one another and the positive impacts we have in the school community -now and in the future.

*** Let's continue to foster community within community.

*** Send an invitation: 'We miss everyone! How are we doing? What do we need? How do we move ahead virtually? Grab a cocktail/mocktail & meet us on Zoom!'

*** Connect with a purpose, and a virtual lens as you check-in. Consider these conversation starters,
*favorite quarantine video (mine - mother's desperate prayer) *academic & extra-curricular resources
*parent book club *student well-being
*future development & social events
*parent association nominations
*supporting recruitment
*faculty & admin partnerships
*points of contact for areas of concern

Thinking of you. Be well.
