Perspectives From a Black Head Of School - Randall Dunn of Rye Country Day

Mr. Randall Dunn, Head of the Rye Country Day School in New York, joined us on the podcast in August 2023 to discuss his then new role, and leadership experiences as a person of color in education.

During the span of his 35-year career in education, Mr. Dunn has been a teacher, coach, and senior administrator, and has worked in independent, public, day, and boarding schools. Mr. Dunn is also the recently elected Chair of the Board of Trustees of the National Association of Independent Schools or NAIS.

We’re re-sharing this great episode for any newer families going through the Admissions process and wondering if their children of color will be safe and supported within the Independent School environment!

Mr. Dunn attended Milton Academy in Milton, MA under the sponsorship of A Better Chance, then received his Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Brown University and Master of Education in human development and psychology from Harvard University.
